When we think about summer in Indore, we usually imagine vacations, cold drinks, and mangoes. But over the past few years, summer has started feeling very different. The heat now feels more intense, with roads staying hot for extended periods and nights no longer offering relief.

Heat Mapping Initiative
The author participated in a Heat Mapping Programme coordinated by Mahila Housing Trust and Indore Municipal Corporation. As members of the Indore Climate League and connected with SHEDO Sansthan, the team examined temperature variations across the city.
Methodology
The program covered 15 routes at three time intervals: 3:30-4:30 PM, 7-8 PM, and 10-11 PM. A striking finding was that in many places, the temperature remained almost the same even during the night.
Key Observations
The research revealed significant differences between tree-filled areas and concrete-dominated zones. Vegetated spaces felt cooler and more breathable, while built-up areas felt substantially hotter and less comfortable.
Conclusion
The experience transformed how the author perceives urban climate challenges, demonstrating that climate change affects daily existence. The author emphasizes the importance of awareness, sustainable development, and expanding green spaces for a climate-resilient future.
