HCA-II publishes MILE report, capturing key learnings to enhance programme impact

Phase II of the Healthy Cities for Adolescents (HCA-II) programme has published its Mid-term Internal Learning Exercise (MILE) report, a comprehensive analysis of project and programme progress and learning from December 2021 to December 2023. Conducted over the course of a year (September 2023 – September 2024), the MILE explored seven HCA-II projects across Ecuador, Colombia, Senegal, Ghana, India and Vietnam, with the goal of enhancing programme delivery and impact.

Co-designed and implemented through a participatory approach involving HCA-II managers, project partners, and stakeholders, the MILE examined five critical research areas: context fit, coherence, effectiveness, sustainability and shared learning. The report presents insights into what has worked well, as well as challenges faced, offering valuable lessons for future programme phases. These findings are not only relevant to HCA-II but may also provide actionable insights for similar initiatives and wider stakeholders in the adolescent health, wellbeing, and sustainable development space.
